1) Walks & Hikes near The Rose Hotel:
Autumn is one of the loveliest times of year to explore Kerry on foot. Whether you're taking a gentle stroll after breakfast or a more active hike, there are plenty of options close to the hotel.
The Rose Walk:
You don’t have to go far to begin exploring. The Rose Walk connects The Rose Hotel directly with Tralee Town Park and its beautiful Rose Garden, making it one of the easiest walks to enjoy during your stay.
Take a stroll into the park, admire the seasonal colours and continue into Tralee town centre for a coffee or a little shopping.
Canal Walk:
Another lovely walk is along the Tralee Canal, where you can follow the path towards Blennerville while taking in beautiful views of the Slieve Mish Mountains. Along the way, you’ll pass the charming swing bridge before reaching the iconic Blennerville Windmill, with wonderful views across Tralee Bay at the end of the canal.
Ballyseedy Woods:
A short drive from the hotel brings you to Ballyseedy Woods, a beautiful wood that comes alive with rich colours during the autumn season. Home to at least 22 varieties of native trees, it’s also a magical place for children, who can have fun spotting fairy doors and collecting fallen chestnuts. Along the peaceful trails, you’ll come across historic ruins, with the River Lee flowing alongside the woods and adding to its peaceful charm.
Glanageenty Walks:
For something a little more challenging, head towards Glanageenty, approximately 12km from Tralee. There are several trails through the woodland and along the Glanageenty River, with routes of varying lengths and difficulty. Expect forest paths, river views, wildlife and some wonderful viewpoints along the way.
Lyreacrompane Mass Path & River Walk:
Venture a little further north of Tralee to discover the peaceful countryside around Lyreacrompane. The Mass Path & River Walk combines local heritage with rural scenery and is a lovely choice for those who enjoy discovering some of Kerry’s lesser-known walking routes.
Whichever walk you choose, remember that autumn weather in Kerry can change quickly, so bring suitable footwear and a light waterproof jacket.
2) Kerry County Museum:
Discover the fascinating story of Kerry at Kerry County Museum in the heart of Tralee. During the museum’s current restoration project, visitors can explore the Medieval Experience and Archaeology Hall, offering an opportunity to discover centuries of Kerry history.
It is also a great option to keep in mind for those cooler autumn days!
3) Aqua Dome:
Whatever the weather outside, you can enjoy tropical temperatures at the Aqua Dome, one of Ireland’s largest indoor Waterworld’s and a firm favourite with families visiting Tralee. With pools and water features for all ages, it is an ideal way to spend a rainy autumn afternoon.
Adults can also relax in the Vitality Spa, while the recently refurbished 18-hole Aqua Golf offers another fun activity to add to your day.
4) Tralee Bay Wetlands Eco & Activity Park:
Located close to the hotel, Tralee Bay Wetlands Eco & Activity Park combines nature, wildlife and outdoor fun. Take a walk around the wetlands and enjoy the views or add a little adventure with some of the activities available at the park.
5) Tralee to Fenit Greenway:
Swap four wheels for two and explore the Tralee to Fenit Greenway. Beginning in Tralee, the route takes you through the countryside towards the coast before finishing in the seaside village of Fenit. Once you arrive, take some time to explore the village, enjoy the views across Tralee Bay and stop for a well-earned coffee before making the return journey.

6) Blennerville Windmill:
Continue your exploration of Tralee with a visit to Blennerville Windmill, Ireland’s largest working windmill, overlooking Tralee Bay. Step inside to discover the fascinating history of the windmill and explore a variety of exhibitions, including the Kerry Model Railway and an emigration display telling the story of those who left Ireland through Blennerville. The Windmill is open five days a week during September and October, before closing for the winter and reopening in April.
8) Siamsa Tíre - Theatre & Arts Centre:
After a day exploring, enjoy an evening of entertainment at Siamsa Tíre. Located in Tralee, Siamsa Tíre hosts a varied programme of music, theatre, comedy, dance and cultural events throughout the year. Check what's on during your stay and make an evening of it with dinner or drinks at The Rose Hotel before the show.
9) Kingdom Greyhound Stadium:
For a lively evening out, head to Kingdom Greyhound Stadium in Tralee. A night at the races is a fun way to experience something a little different during your autumn break and is ideal for couples, groups of friends and families with older children.

For something a little different, head to Kerry Padel, just a short drive from the hotel.
