Nothing says autumn quite like picking your own pumpkin! Located at Cloghane, Ballyduff, around 25 minutes from Tralee, Ballybunion Pumpkin Patch offers pumpkin picking, a haunted bale maze, farm animals, games and plenty of opportunities for autumn family photos. It is open on selected weekends throughout October and during the midterm break, with advance online booking recommended.
Halloween Scavenger Hunt at Tralee Bay Wetlands:
Closer to the hotel, Tralee Bay Wetlands Eco & Activity Park is hosting its Halloween Scavenger Hunt this October. Families can follow clues around the park, solve the mystery and enjoy hands-on activities along the way. The event runs on selected dates from 17th until 31st October 2026, with sessions at 11am and 2pm. Pre-booking is essential, and the activity is suitable for children aged 4 -12.
Samhain Chiarraí – A Kerry Halloween:
Experience the traditions of Halloween with Samhain Chiarraí, taking place across Kerry from 15th October until 1st November 2026. The festival celebrates the Celtic origins of Samhain through folklore, storytelling, music, fire and family events. Tralee is one of the festival hubs, with events taking place in town throughout the festival. Check the official programme before your stay to see what’s happening during your visit.
Listowel Food Fair:
If your autumn break is a little later in the season, head to nearby Listowel for the Listowel Food Fair, taking place from 5th until 9th November 2026. The festival celebrates Irish food and local producers, with a programme of food experiences and events to enjoy throughout the town. Check the festival programme before your visit and book individual events where required.
