12 Things to do in Tralee this Autumn

As autumn is approaching, why not take some time to enjoy a break in Tralee, with a variety of activities and attractions to enjoy you will not be disappointed.

Autumn comes with the beautiful hues of amber and gold, excitement for pumpkin spice lattes and so much more! And while daylight may be shorter in autumn, there is still plenty of time to get out and about during the day to explore Tralee and the surrounding areas. Walks on the beach are invigorating, woodland walks are colourful, mood-boosting and it’s a great time to connect with nature as the seasons change.

Need some ideas for a relaxing, yet delightful autumn? Here are some of our suggestions:

 

Blennerville Windmill

 

1) Visit Blennerville Windmill:

Explore Ireland's largest working windmill, located in Blennerville – west of Tralee. You can also take a guided tour to learn about the history of the windmill and its role in the area's past.

 

Tralee Town Park

 

2) Stroll through Tralee Town Park:

Enjoy a leisurely walk in Tralee Town Park, which features beautiful landscapes, walking paths, and serene surroundings. The autumn foliage can make the park particularly picturesque during this time of year.

 

Tralee-Fenit Greenway

 

3) Cycle the Kingdom of Kerry Greenway:

A 13.5km trail from Tralee to Fenit. Starting in Tralee’s Casement Station, the trail links the town with the beautiful countryside and stunning coastline, finishing in Fenit Village. You can rent a bike locally or if you bring your own bikes let us know and we can store them securely. 

 

Kingdom Greyhound Stadium

4) Have a night at the “dogs”!

Enjoy a great evening out at Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, just a five-minute drive from the hotel. Racing takes place every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

5) Experience Siamsa Tíre – the National Folk Theatre of Ireland:

Attend a live show or performance including an acoustic folk-based pop/rock performance by Mundy to a dramatic and humorous solo performance of Tom Crean – Antarctic Explorer by Aidan Dooley plus lots more at Siamsa Tire.

6) Take a scenic drive around the county:

Enjoy the stunning landscapes of County Kerry along the Wild Atlantic Way. Enjoy a day trip to Dingle Peninsula or the Ring of Kerry. Stop at one of the fabulous blue flag beaches for a brisk walk and grab a coffee at a local café or coffee van. The autumn colours will enhance the beauty of these routes.

A peaceful woodland area with walking trails that offer the opportunity to enjoy the changing colours of autumn leaves. Ballyseedy Woods is a great spot for nature lovers, just a short drive from the hotel.
